Description

This course sets the creative and technical foundations for aspiring actors. Throughout the year, students will acquire the proper tools they need to set out on their creative journey as performance artists, as well as gain insight into the social and historical influences of the theatrical world. This class will allow students to open themselves up in a welcoming space and explore performing with ensemble-based exercises, as well as character and scene study. Both improv and text work will be explored over the course of the year. Additionally, they will develop an insight for the nuances of performance critique, from the perspectives of both performer and audience member. From this class, students will take with them confidence in not only themselves, but also in their ability to create characters onstage and appreciate the performing arts.
