Description
Pre-Calculus is a 2 semester AG course that covers all of the california standards. Pre-Calculus weaves together previous study of algebra, geometry, and mathematical functions into a preparatory course for calculus. The course focuses on mastery of critical skills and exposure to new skills necessary for success in subsequent math courses. Topics include fundamental concepts of Algebra, functions and graphs, polynomials and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions, analytic trigonometry, topics in trigonometry, systems of equations and inequalities, matrices and determinants, conic sections and analytic geometry, sequences, induction, probability, and an introduction to Calculus. Honors Credit Add-on (Charter approval needed) is available for students. Students will enrich their course experience by exploring the applications of the concepts they learned through project based learning. This course is strategically designed to prepare students for College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests, offering a powerful pathway to academic acceleration and college readiness. By mastering course content and potentially passing CLEP exams, students can: Earn college credits while still in high school Reduce future college tuition costs by thousands of dollars Demonstrate advanced academic capabilities to prospective schools Skip introductory college courses and move directly into more advanced studies Build confidence in standardized testing and college-level academic skills Get a head start on college curriculum and degree requirements
