This dynamic middle school course explores the powerful intersection of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with the rich tapestry of United States history. Students will discover how technological innovation and scientific breakthroughs have shaped and been shaped by key historical moments, from the nation's founding to the present day.
Through hands-on projects, collaborative investigations, and historical case studies, students will:

Investigate how early American inventors like Benjamin Franklin applied scientific principles to solve practical problems
Design and build models that demonstrate technological innovations of different historical periods
Analyze the mathematical and engineering challenges overcome during westward expansion, railroad construction, and industrial revolution
Explore the scientific advancements that emerged during critical periods like the Space Race and Civil Rights Movement
Understand the contributions of diverse inventors and scientists who have often been overlooked in traditional historical narratives
Develop critical thinking skills by examining how technological progress has influenced social change
